Homework
Foreign Language Classes:
WordChamp is due EVERY WEDNESDAY by 5:30 p.m. Remember, I look for the total time spent working on the assigned exercises for that week to figure your grade. If it's on time and you spend extra time, you will get extra credit in the form of euros. If it's late, no euros will be given for extra time, but most of the points will still be entered: late, but within one week (and complete) = 24/25; later than that and complete (and still within the same term) = 22/25.
- You DO NOT have to complete assignments once the time limit has been reached, BUT MAKE SURE you click "end practice early" instead of Home or Back.
- When you do late work, I do not check past weeks unless you make the request in writing. Include your name, period, and the due date(s) for the week(s) you want me to re-check. This can be done by sending a message through WordChamp to FrauS, or by sending me an email (gschwab@alpinedistrict.org) or even by writing it on a full-size sheet of paper and putting that paper in my hands.
- When you send me a message by computer (WordChamp or email), I will send you an answer when I have checked and recorded your time and score
Minimum Required Time spent practicing WordChamp each week: Intro to Foreign Langauge -- 10-15 minutes German 1 -- 20 minutes German 2 -- 30 minutes German 3 -- 40 minutes German 4 -- 50 minutes
English Class:
Read every day. Keep track of time or pages, and get your reading log signed each week.
The total for each week needs to be at least 100 pages or 2 hours of reading. At least half of the reading must be from novels, biographies, or autobiographies that are at 100 pages or longer, and the other half can include other reading such as magazines, newspapers, scriptures, or reading aloud to younger siblings.
For reading logs handed in on time only: Include all the reading you can and get extra points! (They'll be paid in euros which will then be part of your participation grade at the end of the term.)
Announcements
Lehi High School German Club
We now have club officers who are helping getting everything organized! The plan is to meet after school every B-day Thursday. We'll start the hour with soccer practice (we're playing the French Club on Wednesday, May 16 after school!) for about 30-40 minutes, then there will be another activity for about 30 more minutes.
You can get euros for attending either part or all of each club meeting, but only if you're participating (those who are medically unable to play soccer practice can participate with instruction and/or cheering on the group). Watch for emails from Frau Schwab with "German Club" in the subject line for more information! Remember, you can bring friends to be part of the German Club Soccer Team.
Willowcreek Intro Students ONLY
Look under "Resources" for Walk Away vocabulary and picture dictionary words and pictures -- they are PDF files now, so everyone can access them more easily (you'll need to download Adobe Reader, but it's free).
The pictures are even better lined up for equal sizes of cards!
Picture Dictionary flash card helps: at the bottom of this screen, in the section titled "Resources" find the list of the 40 required words in all three languages, another document with pictures in the same order as the list; there are eight on a page, and they go down the left, then down the right -- in case you can't tell for sure what the picture is, you need to know what direction to read the pictures in. These pictures are for your convenience -- if you have other pictures you prefer in some cases (such as pictures of your own family members), by all means use yours instead; these are simply provided in case it's easier for you.
